RETHINK - Contemporary Art & Climate Change

La Galerie Nationale du Danemark, le Centre d'art contemporain Den Frie, le Centre d'art contemporain Mikolaj de Copenhague et l'Institut Alexandra ont collaboré à la réalisation d'une exposition internationale d'art contemporain qui ouvre de nouvelles perspectives sur le débat climatique.
Le 31 octobre prochain ouvre à Copenhague (Danemark) l'exposition Repenser - Art contemporain et changements climatiques, avec de grandes ambitions de résonance et d'ouverture. Pendant que les acteurs politiques seront réunis à la conférence des changements climatiques de l'ONU, 26 artistes nordiques et internationaux présenteront leurs oeuvres dans les meilleures institutions artistiques du Danemark, proposant au grand public comme aux politiciens de nouvelles pistes pour appréhender la complexité des enjeux climatiques.
Imaginez une montagne en mouvement au rythme d'un sismographe, des biosphères volant dans le ciel et des centaines de sacs plastiques emplis de pluie acide. Que se passe-t-il quand l'art fusionne avec les bruits de la jungle mexicaine, ou observe les données des satellites à la recherche du ciel le plus bleu actuellement ou des oiseaux de l'Arctique ?
"Rethink" est une exposition d'oeuvres créées par des artistes dont les pratiques, de diverses manières, se situent à l'intersection entre art, culture et changement climatique. On y trouvera les pièces de Tomas Saraceno, Henrik Hâkansson, The Islandic Love Corporation, Superflex, Bright Ugochukwu Eke, Olafur Eliasson, et de bien d'autres encore.
Rethink est désignée "Exposition nordique de l'année 2009-2010 et sera itinérante dans plusieurs villes de ces pays en 2010. Elle fait également partie du programme officiel de la COP 15, la Conférence de l'Organisation des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques qui se tiendra à Copenhague du 7 au 18 décembre.

The National Gallery of Denmark, Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, Mikolaj Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center, and the Alexandra Institute join forces in an international contemporary art exhibition that puts a new perspective on the climate debate.
On 31 October the international art exhibition RETHING - Contemporary Art & Climate Change opens in Copenhagen, Denmark, with great ambitions in both size and scope. While politicians will gather at the UN Climate Change Conference, 26 trendsetting Nordic and international artists display their work at some of Denmark's finest art institutions, creating new ways for the public and politicians to grasp the complicated climate issues.
Imagine a mountain moving to the beat of a seismograph, flying biospheres in the sky and hundreds of plastic bags with acid rain. What is it like when art merges with sounds from the Mexican jungle, satellite tracking data of the currently "most blue sky" or arctic birds ?
Rethink is an exhibition with works created by artists who in different ways relate to the intersection between art, culture and climate change. The exhibition will present works by artists Tomas Saraceno, Henrik Hâkansson, The Islandic Love Corporation, Superflex, Bright Ugochukwu Eke, Olafur Eliasson, and many others.
Rethink is nominated the Nordic Exhibition of the Year 2009-2010 by the Nordic Culture Fund and will tour several cities in the Nordic countries in 2010. In addition, the exhibition is part of the official culture programme for the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP15 that will take place in Copenhagen from December 7th to 18th.
